"Free Aquatic Fitness Class · What Our Participants Say"

An Hour Immersed in Water —
More Healing Than I Imagined

Every Sunday, a group of elderly participants gather at the pool, following the instructor's cues to stretch and loosen their muscles, and to meet new friends. They say: less joint pain, more smiles. This program is offered free of charge by The Kids Athletic Development Foundation Limited — your support can help more elderly people in need benefit from it

About the Program

"Caregiver Health Matters – Free Aqua Fitness Program" This program offers free, professionally guided aquatic fitness sessions, including stretching, cardiovascular exercise, and strength training. The activity offers unique benefits for caregivers: the buoyancy of water reduces pressure on the joints, allowing them to exercise in a relaxed environment, relieve stress, and improve mood. Compared to land-based exercise, water exercise puts less impact on the joints while effectively training the muscles, lowering the risk of injury — making it especially suitable for caregivers who are under prolonged physical strain. Moderate aquatic exercise can also help improve sleep quality.

The program also provides a platform for interaction, helping to build a support network and reduce feelings of isolation. Sustained participation can enhance overall wellbeing. Through this initiative, we hope to convey our care and support to caregivers — so that even as they give so much of themselves, they can also maintain their own physical and mental health, and find greater strength to protect those they love.

  • Eligibility : Adults aged 18 or above; the program is designed specifically for hardworking caregivers, and is completely free of charge
  • Format : Held every Sunday at the pool, taught by professional instructors
  • Purpose : To provide a space for rest and respite for hardworking adults, using gentle and effective aquatic fitness activities to relieve stress, improve health, and restore vitality
  • Organiser : The Kids Athletic Development Foundation

Their Heartfelt Words

Below are some reflections shared by participants of the Aquatic Fitness Class after completing the program.

"After training in the Aquatic Fitness Program, I have felt steady improvement — helping with metabolic syndrome, enhancing cardiorespiratory function and functional fitness, and effectively improving my mood and quality of life."
Ms. LaiAquatic Fitness Class Participant
"My right hip joint has begun to degenerate, and my physiotherapist recommended aquatic exercise. I feel fortunate to have joined the Aquatic Fitness Class organised by Kids Swimming Club. The young instructor is caring and patient, and the varied exercises keep the class interesting rather than tedious. After each session, I feel refreshed in body and mind — walking feels easier, and my hip pain has lessened. I hope this program can continue for a long time to come, benefiting many others."

"I really enjoy exercising in the water every time — it's gentle on the joints, helps stretch and loosen the body, and I get to meet new friends too. Every Sunday is spent surrounded by music and laughter."
Ms. LuiAquatic Fitness Class Participant
"It's such a precious thing to have a happy and healthy gathering to look forward to every Sunday. Within that one hour, immersed in the water, I follow the graceful instructor's lead, moving my hands and feet to the rhythm, chatting away with my classmates — pure joy. Thank you to the instructor, and thank you to the swimming club."
Ms. SuenAquatic Fitness Class Participant
"This class is truly meaningful for every elderly person in need of support. Because of a problem with my knee, I was fortunate to join this class through a friend's recommendation. Although the one-hour session feels a little short, it has genuinely made a difference to my pain. I hope the sports association can continue to run this class."

"Hello, since joining the Aquatic Fitness Class, my body aches have lessened. Exercising together with a group of classmates — I look forward to it every week."

In our work deepening community engagement, we have come to see another group of "invisible heroes" — on call around the clock, yet often overlooked by society: caregivers. Whether caring for children with special needs, elderly and ill family members, or relatives with limited mobility, these caregivers bear the physical burden of lifting and supporting their loved ones day after day, all while carrying immense emotional and financial strain. Studies show that as many as 70% of caregivers face serious physical and mental exhaustion, along with muscle and joint strain. When the very pillars holding up these families grow tired, who will hold them up in turn? Caring for the vulnerable must begin with caring for those who care for them.

【Aqua Care Bimonthly Program】
This program aims to provide family caregivers from diverse backgrounds with a two-month course of free aquatic fitness and rehabilitation sessions. It is designed to give these hardworking caregivers a space to rest and recharge — using gentle and effective aquatic fitness activities to relieve stress, improve health, and restore vitality. The buoyancy of water gently eases the joint strain that has built up over years of lifting, supporting, and physical labour, while releasing pent-up tension. The program also offers a platform for connection, helping caregivers build a support network and reduce feelings of isolation. Sustained participation can improve overall wellbeing, giving them more energy to care for their loved ones. Throughout the course, participants will be guided by our team of coaches with professional qualifications in rehabilitation and aquatic fitness.
